History of the Abbot of Wat Simongkol
Phra Maha Phonchai Piyasilo, Abbot of Wat Simongkol
Formerly known as Mr. Phonchai, he was born on June 3, 1976, making him 36 years old. At the age of 16, his father, Mr. Suchat Sae Ngow, and his mother, Mrs. Suang Chanphak, lived at house number 67/1, Village No. 4, Theparat Subdistrict, Ban Pho District, Chachoengsao Province.
He was ordained on July 18, 1996, at Thepparat Temple, Village No. 2, Thepparat Subdistrict, Ban Pho District, Chachoengsao Province, at the age of 20. His preceptor was Phrakru Mongkol Sophitkarn (Luang Por Khan) of Wat Mongkol Sophit (Tonson), Bang Krut Subdistrict, Ban Pho District, Chachoengsao Province, and Phra Karmwajajarn was Phrakru Kittiputthikon of Wat Klang Rat Bamrung, Village No. 3, Theparat Subdistrict, Ban Pho District, Chachoengsao Province.
He became a Monument of Nachan under the guidance of Phra Khru Suthep Santikhun (Tueang) of Wat Theparat Pawararam, Village No. 2, Theparat Subdistrict, Ban Pho District, Chachoengsao Province. He completed his education at Grade 6, graduating from Wat Thong Pleng School in Bangkok.

He finished Mathayom 3 at Wat Intharam School in Bang Yi Ruea District, Bangkok.
On May 13, 2012, he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Buddhism (B.A.) from Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya (MCU). He obtained his Dhamma qualification in 1998, majoring in Dhamma and completing three Dhamma studies. In 2007, he attended Thepparat Wararam Temple School, Theparat Subdistrict, for Sangha Administration. In 1999, he served as a teacher of Pariyatti Dhamma, and in 2003, he became the Deputy Abbot of Thepparat Wararam Temple.
As a Buddhist monk, he taught morality at Wat Sri Mongkol School in 2007, dedicating two days a week to teaching, specifically on Thursdays and Fridays.
In 2008, he assumed the position of Abbot of Wat Sri Mongkol, located in Village No. 4, Laem Pradu Subdistrict, Ban Pho District, Chachoengsao Province.
In 2010, he became a monk and was appointed as the abbot of Wat Sri Mongkol.

Phra Mahaphonchai Piyasilo is a monk who spreads Dhamma to students, youth, and Buddhists. He delivers sermons to Buddhists every Buddhist holy day and teaches Dhamma at the educational institution of Wat Srimongkol School two days a week, specifically on Thursdays and Fridays. He governs the temple using the principles of kindness and Dharma and is respected by monks, novices, Buddhists, and the general public. He demonstrates and continues to preserve traditional Thai cultural traditions, such as the Songkran traditions, organizing the Mahachat Festival, and annual peace events. He emphasizes sufficiency in temple management and encourages making merit by giving alms to monks and providing Dharma training for students, youth, and Buddhists. Additionally, he delivers sermons on important religious days. He collaborates with educational institutions in the area to organize activities for National Father's Day and Mother's Day to honor and present royal merit to His Majesty the King and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. These activities occur annually, both in the morning and in the evening. Furthermore, he focuses on landscaping the temple area to create a shady, beautiful, and clean environment with appropriate trees and other features. His highlight is his commitment to knowledge and self-development. He conducts regular prayer and meditation activities every Sunday, practices Vipassana meditation, observes precepts, and engages in Dhamma practice on every Buddhist holy day. His vision for developing the temple is to make it the spiritual center of Buddhists in the community.
